Plot Summary:Many years after she has left her home town in disgrace, Claire Zachanassian, now an unimaginably wealthy millionairess, returns. The town is on the brink of bankruptcy and the officials are hoping the old lady will come to the rescue. However, her price is high. She demands somebody deliver the dead body of the mayor of the town to her in return for financial help.
