World War II left Soviet children without fathers and grandfathers. Vasilok searches everywhere for his grandfather, and finally discovers he was a war hero, so famous a ship was named for him.
Plot Summary:Impressionistic illustrations and a tender admission of sorrow distinguish this animated short from run-of-the-mill Soviet propaganda. A young boy searches the countryside for stories about his beloved grandfather who died at war.
